Operator is a dictation app for Mac. This policy describes what data the app handles and where it goes.

Your voice stays on your device

Voice capture, transcription with WhisperKit, and speech synthesis with Kokoro run on your Mac. Operator does not upload your audio or transcript to us or to a cloud speech service. Text pasted into another app is handled under that app's terms, the same as text you type.

What we collect

We collect the information needed to manage your subscription. Payments are processed by Polar, our merchant of record, who collects your email and payment details under their privacy policy. As the seller, we can see your email address and subscription status in our Polar dashboard. The app checks whether your license is active. It does not receive your email or payment-card details.

Stored on your Mac

Your one-time trial start and end dates are stored in your Mac's Keychain. If you subscribe, your license key and its activation id are also stored there and sent to Polar only to activate and re-validate your license. When you activate, your Mac's name (e.g. "Jud's MacBook Pro") is sent to Polar as a label, so you can tell your activated devices apart.
